Hydrogels with Brain Tissue-Like Mechanical Properties in Complex Environments

چکیده

In surgical training applications and experimental research, brain tissues immersed in cerebrospinal fluid often involve very complex deformation strain rate effects, which affects their reliability stability. Thus, it is indispensable to develop a high-fidelity human tissue simulant material as physical surrogate model understand mechanical behavior, such traumatic injury (TBI). However, the reported materials have not yet been able compare satisfy above two properties. Here, we developed novel composite hydrogel with tissue-like properties investigated behavior solution environment. The results demonstrate that this shows some common features fresh porcine tissue, nonlinear good similarity under various external environments (artificial fluid, saline solution, deionized water, air environments) rates (0.001s-1,900s-1,1700s-1). Furthermore, using life-sized mold, successfully constructed 3D brain-like based on hydrogel, validates feasibility of model. Since are similar those our work will important reference value for realization related research biomedical engineering.

Mechanical properties of brain tissue in tension.

This paper contains experimental results of in vitro, uniaxial tension of swine brain tissue in finite deformation as well as proposes a new hyper-viscoelastic constitutive model for the brain tissue. The experimental results obtained for two loading velocities, corresponding to strain rates of 0.64 and 0.64 x 10(-2)s(-1), are presented. We believe that these are the first ever experiments of t...

Dynamic mechanical properties of human brain tissue.

Investigators have been studying the mechanical phenomena associated with impact to the head for many years. Several theories on the behavior of the brain during head impact have come from these studies but there has been a notable lack of information on the bulk mechanical properties of the brain which are necessary for the evaluation of these theories. This paper represents an initial attempt...

Emerging properties of hydrogels in tissue engineering

Hydrogels are three-dimensional polymeric networks filled with water and mimic tissue environments. Therefore, they are considered optimal to deliver cells and engineer damaged tissues. The hydrogel networks have been significantly modified to endow biochemical functionality with adhesive ligands, growth factors, or degradable sites that are helpful to drive proper cell functions. Recently, som...
